Event Details

Although learning and development is increasingly being recognised as vital in attracting and retaining the best talent in organisations, many L&D professionals still find they have to fight for budgets and justify investment in people development. So creating an effective culture of learning within our organisations is an increasingly important part of the L&D remit.

This interactive workshop is for HR and L&D professionals who are working towards putting learning at the heart of their organisations’ culture. In the current business climate unemployment is reportedly at a 42-year low. This makes the task finding and attracting top candidates particularly hard & means that you have to be a ‘magnet’ organisation (one that stands head and shoulders above competition in terms of providing career development and opportunities for personal and professional growth).

During the workshop we will explore what a learning culture looks like, how you know if you have one and how to work towards embedding learning at the heart of your organisation’s culture maximising processes and practices that you’ve already got in place, and without needing to ‘reinvent the wheel’.

The facilitators will share some case studies and examples, and as is usual with GL&D events, participants will be encouraged to learn, share and discover together, using their own experiences and challenges to add richness and diversity to the session.

Miranda Jenkins of Skills to Go Ltd and Sue Manser of Sucandu Ltd work independently and are professional trainers, facilitators and have been successfully supporting the development of talent in both public and private sector organisations for more years than they dare to admit to! Sue brings a considerable depth of experience in the NHS where she has worked on transformative projects to embed learning in a culture where costs are tight and expenditure is continuously scrutinised. Miranda brings over 20 years experience of working with L&D managers to improve performance through aligning business goals and people development priorities, thus making the case for investment in skills more ‘palatable’ for budget holders and key decision-makers.

Registration and refreshments from 9.00am.  Event starts 9.30am.  Finishes 12.30pm

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided on arrival.
