Crowdfunding - think it’s just for video game designers or charities? Think again! Come along to our fav Surrey food studio, Blid + Hatton, and find out how the lovely lolly company LICKALIX raised £225K on the crowdfunding platform, Crowdcube.
While we munch on delectable delights, LICKALIX founder Karis Gesua and her right-hand woman Hana Noguchi will share the secret of their crowdfunding success and offer practical advice, resources and recommendations.
Come away with a better understanding of crowdfunding and how you might be able to use it to give your business a financial leg-up.
Saving the world, one lolly at a time….
Less than three years ago Karis and Dominic Gesua made a choice to change their lives. Unhappy in their jobs and driven by a life-long desire to run their own business, they set up healthy lolly company LICKALIX and never looked back.
Handmade and suitable for vegans and those who ‘just say no’ to lactose, dairy or gluten, their tasty range of ice lollies come in innovative flavours such as Mango & Raspberry Swirl and Caribbean Twist. They contain fewer than 62 calories each and less sugar and fat than most popular ice cream, ice lolly and frozen yogurt brands.
The business ethos follows Karis and Dominic’s beliefs in great quality food and helping others. LICKALIX sources fresh fruit from local producers and wholesale markets, such as New Spitalfields, and endeavours to use organic and fair trade ingredients wherever possible. It employs on a social enterprise basis and minimises food waste by providing leftover produce to feed the pigs at Stepney City Farm.
Currently on the kids menu at Jamie’s Italian restaurants nationwide and available at Ocado, Whole Foods, The Medicine Gardens and more this is just the beginning of the jolly lolly revolution.
