About this event
In this online workshop, we'll take you through the basics of how to darn and provide you with the materials you need to get started. Darning is a classic repair technique used to mend holes in knitted and woven fabrics, it's perfect for fixing moth-eaten or well-worn jumpers and slippers. The workshop will cover the basic technique, how to adapt it for visible or invisible styles of mending and tips on choosing the right yarn for your darn. There will be opportunities to ask any questions you might have throughout.
Each kit (normal RRP £10) includes 5 skeins of different colour yarns, in cotton and wool, a selection of darning needles and an instructional card for you to look back at after the workshop.
It can be helpful to work with a darning mushroom or egg when darning. If you don't have one of these take a look at our blog post on other things you can use from around the home here - http://www.fastfashiontherapy.co.uk/2020/04/08/find-it-at-home-darning-mushrooms/
This workshop will be carried out over Zoom, the details for this and the darning kit will be sent to you before the workshop.
Our 'How to Patch your Clothes' workshop is at at a different time on the same day. We offer a £5 discount if you buy a ticket for both the darning and patching workshops (discount applies for different days, you don't have to attend both workshops on the same day). Code should be automatically applied at check out. Please get in touch if it isn't working correctly.
