Event description
Join our expert woodland haberdasher and try your hand at natural dyeing.

About this Event

Experience the forest through the vibrant colours made from wild plants. In a fun and friendly atmosphere learn how to correctly identify and collect plants from around the forest for natural dyes. Dye a selection of wool, calico and silk testers to see the difference between vegetable and animal fibres and the unique colours produced. Get to grips with mordants and methodologies as well as more in depth dyeing questions.

All materials included. Tea and coffee included.

Please Note

  • Please allow 10 minutes to drive from front gate to the lake area before event start time.
  • Parking charge £8 for non National Trust members.
  • Please meet at The Hub next to the shell house car park in the lake area.
  • Please wear comfortable clothes and sturdy footwear that you don't mind getting messy
  • This event is suitable for wheel chair access with prior notice. A tramper vehicle is available with prior booking.
  • This is an adult event 16+ years.
  • Assistance dogs only are welcome.
