Event description
Charlotte Lunn returns to NWS for part 2 of her workshop, 'How to Edit and Critique Poetry'.

About this Event

In the first session of this series, we developed our editing skills with an introduction to offering constructive criticism.

If you’re ready to develop your editing skills further, then keep reading.

The second workshop of this series builds on the skills gained within the first session and explores becoming confident in articulating constructive criticism.

Through discussion and feedback, you will hone your craft further, not only editing by the way a poem sounds but the way it looks on the page. You will look for line breaks that don’t sit right, learn how to punctuate in poetry and where to capitalise whilst reinforcing previous techniques learnt, on cutting, rhythm and titles. We will actively encourage each other to not only offer positive feedback but to offer suggestions for development so we can all create polished pieces and become valued editors.

Your poem will be circulated amongst the attendees via email so they can make notes before the session and prepare to offer feedback. Charlotte will offer further tips on what to look for in a poem when editing and how to critique with confidence. Thorough feedback of everyone’s poems will also be prepared by Charlotte to share at the workshop.

This is a helpful follow on from the first session on How to Edit and Critique Poetry, however beginners are also welcome and will be sent helpful tips on how to get started.

Please send one poem to charlottelunnpoet@outlook.com once you have booked your place and no later than a week before the session.
