Event description

Description

ALL WELCOME: PhD students and Early Career Research Staff in particular; those who are wanting to write a grant for the first time.

ACTIVITY: Looking at existing grant bids that failed, or succeeded. We'll guide you through working out what was good/bad in each one.

LEADER: Simon Challis, Social Sciences Grant Writer

We want early-career staff and those writing research grants to feel well prepared. In this 2 hour workshop we have time to go over the finance and objectives sections of 3 existing grant bids. You will discuss with expert Simon Challis what appears to reflect originality and value-for-money in each bid. Working in small groups in a flat room, you also have a chance to meet others from social sciences who are, like you, moving toward getting research funding from outside the University. It'll be fun, and some people may follow this up with the SOSS Writing Group from 3.30 to 5 pm the same day in Room G.018 of Arthur Lewis Building (again, all welcome).
