How To Fix Electricals: strip wires, solder, replace switches & rewire!

Join this How To Fix Electricals workshop, where you'll deep dive into fixing the parts between the appliance and plug. Learn how to strip wires, solder, replace switches and rewire a plug. These are common fixes that often help bring many items back to life.

All skill levels are welcome- including complete beginners and those with some fixing skills/experience already! These workshops are designed for those who would like to start volunteering their skills at community repair events but don't know where to start.

Community repair events are pop-up events that prevent e-waste by helping people fix their own electronics. East London Waste Authority (ELWA) run a series of community repair events (Repair Cafe's) across East London, which rely on volunteers to make the magic happen. We're therefore keen to meet more people interested in repairing and volunteering!

Please note:

• These sessions are not repair cafes, where you can bring your items for repair
• These sessions are completely free, all we ask is that you attend a Repair Cafe event as a volunteer to help hone your skills and build confidence and experience in fixing items, under the guidance of our expert repairers
• Under 18's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
• If this event sells out, we will be prioritising giving tickets to people who live within the borough. If you live outside the borough, we may get in touch with you to cancel your ticket.
• This event is a collaboration between The Restart Project and East London Waste Authority. By booking a ticket, you consent to your answers being shared with both organisations, for reporting purposes. Your personal information will not be included in any reporting, however we both ELWA and The Restart Project may use your name and email address to contact you for follow-up (e.g., to share updates or request further feedback).
