About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Do you want to know more about working on paid projects or contracts or how to develop a freelance practice? To kickstart Freelance week we will be going through an overview of the basics to support your understanding on who can freelance, what is freelancing and how you can get your independent career started.

The session will cover everything you need to consider when starting out as a creative freelancer including:

  • What is freelancing and what does it involve?
  • How to register as self-employed and pay tax
  • Top tips on finding and approaching clients
  • Top tips on presenting and promoting what you do
  • Approaches to pricing and how to get paid

This session will be run by UAL’s Enterprise Programme Manager Lucy Nicholson and will be delivered online.

If you have access requirements, an urgent query, or if there are any barriers to your participation in this event, please email careers-support@arts.ac.uk as soon as possible, and we'll be happy to talk with you.
