About this event
Hosted by Dr Sita Thomas: Presenter and Co-Artistic Director, Common Wealth
Refugee Week is an annual festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees, and everyone is welcome to take part by running their own event or activity.
Join us for this online session full of inspiration and information about how you can get involved in Refugee Week 2021, which will take place 14-20 June with the theme ‘We Cannot Walk Alone’.
You will have the chance to hear from three Refugee Week organisers about their experience of being part of Refugee Week:
- Rachael Cox: Programme Manager, Celebrating Sanctuary Birmingham and Coordinator of Birmingham Refugee Week
- Catja de Haas: Architect, Giant Doll’s House Project
- Rana Ibrahim: Founder and Leader, Iraqi Women Art and War
Whether you’re involved in arts and culture, sports, education, comms, community organising, a faith community, social enterprise (or something else!) or are just interested in finding out more, everyone is welcome!
This event launches the Refugee Week Slow Conference, a series of free workshops 04 February – 11 March exploring arts and culture for change, ahead of Refugee Week 2021.
Browse the rest of the conference programme and sign up for workshops here.
In the spirit of 'We Cannot Walk Alone', we'd love if you could also pass an invite on to someone who might not otherwise hear about this event.
Thank you and look forward to seeing you there!
