How to get involved in Safer Internet Day in Scotland

What can Safer Internet Day do for your organisation?

The UK Safer Internet Centre would like to invite you to a special event preparing for Safer Internet Day in Scotland. Presenters including the BBC and UK Safer Internet Centre will help to inspire and enthuse attendees from across Scotland about the role we can all play in supporting Safer Internet Day 2020.

Scotland has doubled the number of Safer Internet Day supporters in two years! We aim to make Safer Internet Day 2020 on February 11th even bigger. By working together, we can have an incredible impact across Scotland.

Safer Internet Day (SID) aims to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. It is a global event - celebrated annually in over 140 countries. SID 2019 was supported in the UK by over 2,100 organisations, reaching 46% of children (aged 8-17) and 26% of parents in the UK:

  • Schools ran sessions for students, parents and staff using free SID educational materials;

  • Companies engaged with employees, customers and partners;

  • Police services, charities, government and wider reached out through their networks;

  • Celebrities added their voice; and

  • Individuals across the UK connected with their families and friends.

Come along to this event hosted by Scottish Government to hear directly about the SID 2020 campaign and how you can be involved. It’s a great opportunity to network, share and be inspired by others’ plans for the day. Dave Howard heads up BBC Own It - a flagship online wellbeing platform for children. Dave will show us the exciting new Own It app. Whether you are a school, charity, public sector organisation or private company, there is something you can do to play a part in the day. We will be delighted if you can join us and a range of leading organisations as we plan for Safer Internet Day 2020.
