How to get people to say ‘yes’ to mediation
Wed 5 July 2017, 10:00 – 13:00 BST
In this workshop presentation, Elizabeth Stokoe will explain how mediators can best engage prospective clients in mediation, from initial telephone inquiries to selling mediation on websites and leaflets. Drawing on research evidence from studies of different types of mediation, she will show what works and what is less effective when mediators explain mediation and attempt to convert callers to clients of their service. She will use CARM – the Conversation Analytic Role-play Method – to work with participants using actual, live encounters between mediators and clients. Participants will be able to put skills learned in the session into practice immediately, making small changes to words to make big changes to outcomes.
Sponsored by HFS Milbourne
