Jane is the Festival’s writer-in-residence and will be leading the How to Get Published workshop.

TREVOR GROVE is a journalist and former editor of the Sunday Telegraph and deputy editor of the Daily Telegraph. He is married to columnist Valerie Grove. Trevor has written a number of books, including The Juryman’s Tale, a defence of the jury system. He is also a magistrate.

LORELLA BELLI has worked in publishing since 1996, for both publishers and literary agencies, before setting up LBLA in London’s Notting Hill in 2002. She represents bestselling, award-winning, selfpublished and debut authors worldwide. The agency also handles UK rights on behalf of US literary agencies, and translation rights on behalf of authors.

Always wanted to get a short story published? KAREN BYROM, fiction editor on My Weekly magazine, will be giving one-to-one feedback and valuable tips on how to get into print. Karen has been a journalist for over 30 years but her passion is for fiction and working with freelance writers to deliver quality short stories.

MARIA MCCARTHY is an author and journalist, working for Good Housekeeping, Saga, Woman's Weekly and The Daily Telegraph. She has taught freelance journalism at Bristol, Cardiff and Oxford Brookes Universities.

B. A. PARIS is from a Franco/Irish background. She was brought up in England and moved to France where she spent some years working as a trader in an international bank before re-training as a teacher and setting up a language school with her husband. They still live in France and have five daughters. She is the author of the bestselling psychological thriller Behind Closed Doors.

VALERIE GROVE was born in South Shields, educated at Girton College Cambridge, and has been a journalist and author for 50 years working on the Evening Standard, the Sunday Times, The Times and (ever since its first issue in 1992) for The Oldie magazine. She has written 2,000 interviews, four biographies – Dodie Smith, Laurie Lee, John Mortimer, Kaye Webb – and now writes obituaries, mostly of old friends, for The Times.
