How to get seen – an introduction to social media and Google with Folksy
Saturday 26 November
In this workshop we’re looking at how to increase your visibility and get your shop seen. We’ll show you how to write product titles, descriptions and tags for Google and other search engines, and help you understand what ‘keywords’ are, how they work and how to find the right ones for you.
As part of this we will look at how you can define your niche and how a strong brand identity and distinctive product range can help you be seen.
We’ll also look at the different social media platforms available, talk about the pros and cons of each one and help you choose the right one for you.
The session will be run by Camilla Westergaard, content lead at folksy.com
This workshop is suitable for new sellers and anyone thinking about starting their own creative business, as well as experienced sellers who want to understand more about Google, SEO and social media.
Camilla is the content lead at Folksy, which is just a fancy way of saying she’s in charge of words and pictures. Before working at Folksy, Camilla had her own small business Butterscotch and Beesting which could even be found on the shelves of Liberty’s of London, so she understands the good and bad bits of being a maker, and knows how many skills you need to master. Since working at Folksy, she has learned to embrace Google, keywords and all forms of social media (even Snapchat if the filter is tempting enough), and is determined to pass on her knowledge to anyone willing to listen.
While you're at the workshop, don't forget to visit all the amazing designers and makers selling their beautiful wares at the Weekend of the Maker Crafty Fox Market and try out the drop-in macramé workshops going on over the weekend. Plus we’ll be getting together for an evening social on the Saturday night introduced by founder of folksy.com James Boardwell, where you’ll have a chance to mingle with other makers. We're predicting festive fun and good times.
