Event description

Description

This event is roughly 1 hour with some discussion afterwards. Refreshments will be available.

Many of us have thought about the state of the environment worried about global warming and the impact our appetite for fossil fuel energy is having on the planet. We also feel tied economically to the oil, gas and utility companies that provide this energy to us and have wondered - is there a better way? The answer is Yes, there is.

And we'd like to take you through the practical economic and technical ways to become your own renewable energy provider and what the benefits are both financially and for our collective future. This seminar will cover:

- Why should we do this? We all have our own motivations but it helps to clarify our purpose - we all need everybody else to adopt renewable energy for our planet to remain habitable for our children. Well, you ARE that "everybody" to everybody else. Let's get started!

- What are the economic benefits? - This isn't just about reducing pollution but about internalizing the economics of energy production within our own year budgets. Your utility bill is really a "rent" bill from your utility for energy services - hot showers and cold beer. What if we could turn that bill into an investment into our homes with a very long term dividend payout to support our income and retirement?

- How, in practical terms can I do this? - We will cover the straightforward steps you need to take to understand your energy use and review all the technologies available from the well known, like solar, to the new and exciting - infra red heat panels! Plus heat pumps and basics like insulation and energy efficiency.

- What support is available to take these steps? - There is a lot of support both public and private, especially in Scotland, for making a move to renewable energy. We review everything from Home Energy Scotland Interest Free loans to the Renewable Heat Initiative and the options for getting paid for generating solar energy or storing it in a home battery system. We'll also cover very shortly how LiveEco and our professional partners can help you achieve this goal.
