How to grow mushrooms at home – an introduction
Thu 23 March 2017, 19:00 – 21:00 GMT
Growing mushrooms is fascinating and fun! It’s also a good way of getting something organic and healthy into your diet. Grow-your-own mushrooms kits are common now (you may even have tried one before) but you’ll be surprised how easy it is to make them yourself from coffee grounds, a bucket, and some mushroom spawn ordered online. Or, if you’re up for a challenge, start with a mushroom you find in the wild using cardboard.
The trick to doing this well is to start thinking like a mushroom. By the end of this session you’ll understand more about mushrooms and other fungi and their role in nature, which will help you understand what the ones you try to grow really need.
Cost: £12 or £8 for unwaged/students. One oyster mushroom bucket is included in the cost, additional ones are £3 each.
