This workshop is for parent carers of children (aged 0-25) with additional needs or disabilities (with or without a diagnosis) in the UK.
This online workshop will cover:
· discuss strategies to use to give you the confidence to help you get the best from a virtual or face to face meeting
· think about communication styles, assertiveness and how to manage difficult conversations.
We will cover:
• How we communicate
• Develop your skills for online and in-person meetings to help you reach the best outcomes for your child
• The key to a good meeting
• What to do if you become upset or the conversation becomes difficult
• How to feel more confident and better able to express yourself in meetings with professionals
• Understand how to prepare for and how to get the best from a meeting
• Recognize your strengths when communicating and to remember that you are the expert on your child
Unfortunately, there is not time within this workshop to discuss specific issues relating to education provision. We will be focussing on how to prepare for a range of meetings and difficult situations. Our education workshops are also available if you are looking to learn more about SEN Support, your rights or Education, Health and Care plans.
This workshop will be held on Zoom. We will give advice on how to install and use Zoom before the workshop is held, if you require this. If you prefer to not be visible or audible on screen that is fine by us.
