About this event

Are you angry about the injustice that you see in your community? Would you like the tools to be able to turn that anger into action?

We are running a free ten session course for people of ALL AGES (0-100+) on how to make the change you want to see in your communities. Expect sessions on topics such as power, how to run good meetings and conflict resolution and lots and lots of good food.

Don't worry if you haven't thought of yourself as a changemaker before. You do not need any knowledge or experience to get involved, jsut come with an open mind and a willingness to get stuck in.

We want this programme to be as accessible as possible and so if you would like us to pay for your travel to our building please message Betty at 07762124216 . We are also exploring offering a creche so that young children can be cared for whilst their parents and carers participate in the session.

Accessibility

  • The Liberation Centre is wheelchair accessible and we have accessible toilets.
  • We have a quiet room where people can decompress, be in silence and/or pray.
  • We will have food options for all dietary requirements (halal, kosher, gluten free, vegan).

The programme is being delivered by:

The Advocacy Academy - a youth organising movement, we train young people from South London in the skills needed to change the world around them.

InCommon - a charity that creates opportunities for young people and older people to learn from one another, fostering mutual inspiration, growth, and a stronger sense of community.

THE ADVOCACY ACADEMY IS A HOME FOR GRASSROOTS YOUTH ORGANISING IN THE UK!

Living in an unjust world has directly shaped young people's lives, and we exist to turn their anger into action. We are a youth organising movement, based in Brixton since 2014, working to create a more fair, just, and equal society by building the collective power of young people to bring about change. We train young people with lived experiences of injustice to achieve long-term systemic change for themselves and their communities. We combine formal instruction in social and economic systems, and practical training in community organising, and with the heart and soul of radical youth work.

We frequently hold campaign and community-based events, from Open Houses and Membership gatherings to Campaign Call-to-actions. We are always looking for multiple ways to root ourselves more deeply in our community.
