Description

Connected communities can change the world for the better… Are you or are you planning to put on events or experiences for your local community? Are you interested in finding out more how to engage your local community in creative and cultural activities that create active participation & create stronger and better connected communities?

Then come and join us for an afternoon to explore what is happening on the community engagement & events organizing front in and around Stoke and if you never organized a community engagement event before experienced community event organisers from Eden Communities & Fun Palaces will be on hand to answer all the questions you may have.

The event will offer time & space to

  • share best practice on engaging & empowering communities via creative events
  • learn about how to make community events inclusive, fun, accessible & safe
  • map how we can make the most of the local community events assets (e.g. unusual events spaces) we have and share them with our communities
  • connect with community-minded people across Stoke
  • and last but not least the opportunity to share a Big Lunch

This is a free, hand on and collaborative event where everyone will be invited to share what has worked for them as we are all experts in our own experience. We invite you to bring any resources, info materials or recipes for successful community events (and failures – we can learn so much from what hasn’t worked as well) you wish to share with the group.

We hope you will be leaving this event feeling more connected to other people running similar community events or creative community engagement activities, gain new ideas and inspiration for your own community & find the confidence to explore the possibility of starting to put up creative events to connect your community.

Eden Project Communities:

We're the people behind #TheBigLunch and The #BigWalk! We support and encourage people all over the UK to take positive actions that strengthen local connections and build stronger communities. We bring people together to build their confidence and grow and share their talents. We support individuals and communities as they create positive change to tackle local issues that matter to them most. The Big Lunch connects people and encourages friendlier, safer neighbourhoods where people start to share more — from conversations and ideas, to skills and resources. Sign up for your free #BigLunch pack here.

Fun Palaces:

Fun Palaces is a campaign promoting community at the heart of culture and culture at the heart of community with an annual weekend of action created by, for and with local people (6th & 7th October 2018). For more information: www.funpalaces.co.uk
