FERMENTATION WORKSHOP

Includes the choice of Fermented Veggies or Fermented Drinks workshops.

Both are 3-hour workshops including lots of samples to taste, to take home and all the information necessary to become a fermentation expert.

You will try lots of samples and you will take home a jar of the sauerkraut you have made or a Kombucha Scoby/Water Kefir grains.

Fermented Drinks

Fermented drinks like kombucha are gaining popularity, and rightly so. These delicious probiotic drinks are a wonderful replacement for sugar-laden fizzy drinks and alcohol.

They contain all sorts of wonderful beneficial compounds, organic acids, enzymes, probiotic yeast and bacteria plus B vitamins - so they really are a health drink!


What will you learn:

- Everything you need to know to safely and successfully brew your own kombucha and water kefir at home.
- All the associated health benefits and a bit of history.
- How to second ferment your drinks for amazing flavour and fizz!
- Recommendations, recipes, links for cultures and equipment.
- Common mistakes and how to avoid them.
- An opportunity to try many different types of kombucha & water kefir.
- Other uses for fermented drinks, salad dressings/dips/beauty/gardening/pets.
- Healthy nibbles with a fermented twist will be provided & tea and coffee.

Fermented Veggies

Veggies are packed with prebiotic fibre and nutrients. Fermenting is a brilliant way to increase their nutritional value by a massive amount, as well as adding lots of gut healing probiotics. You will learn:

How to ferment:

  • Veggies using the dry salt method

  • Veggies using brining method

How to make your own :

  • Seasonal sauerkraut

  • Kimchi, fermented garlic, red onion, carrot sticks

  • Onion relish/chutney

All about:

  • Various types of salt and the equipment required

  • Other uses for brine, think gut shots!

  • Common problems and how to avoid them
