Are you looking to find out what it takes to raise finance for your business?

If so, this interactive and fun event is a one stop shop for you to connect with the people who can help you with all aspects of raising finance for your business.

If you are to attract funding into your business you need to know the right people to ask. This event is your chance to meet these people and learn from them what you need to do in order to get your business funded, and find out whether your business is investor-ready.

This event will highlight some of the crucial elements you will need to get your business funded. You will get insights from the speaking team, a Q&A session and the chance to network afterwards with each other and our panel of experts.

Who will be speaking?


Adam Shaw

Adam is a communication and rapport expert. His skills stem from varied customer-facing careers in catering, banking, nursing and business funding. He also trains people to pitch themselves and communicate more impactfully, making introductions to business angels if he feels they hit the mark.


Xavier Ballester

Director of Angel Investment Network's broking division. In just over 5 years they have helped over 180 Start-up and expanding companies raise around £35 million. They have a network of 40+ websites covering 80 countries and over 130,000 angel investors - the largest angel investment network in the world.


Jackie Jenks OBE

Jackie is an award winning Enterprise Ambassador who leads Leapfrog Mountain, an accredited Enterprise and Mentoring Academy. This week she was awarded an OBE for services to training and development. She has led/advised on numerous Enterprise Support and Mentoring programmes, including organisations such as Pearsons, Lloyds Banking Group, The School for Social Entrepreneurs, and The UK and Belgium Governments.


Rob Lee

A digital marketer and trainer, Rob specialises in ‘New Media’ such as Snapchat and Instagram Stories. He provides training and consultancy to brands wanting a meaningful presence on these unique platforms through the medium of digital storytelling. Rob has supported a diverse range of industries in developing a social media strategy, including the financial, hospitality, recruitment, cosmetic and property sectors.


Craig Lesser

Craig has been involved in all different aspects of the business world having set up and sold a couple of businesses along the way. Whilst thinking about his next steps, through networking, he stumbled across foreign exchange and was subsequently offered a new challenge after referring lots of business opportunities to a FX company. Now working with businesses both new and established, he’s in a position through the services Sable International offer, to help set companies up and put financial strategies in place from day one.


Stephen Barter

Stephen is an experienced Board Director and CEO having spent most of his career involved in supply chains and logistics. Since leaving the corporate world nearly 10 years ago he has founded a business dedicated to bringing the benefits of non-executive directors and board advisors to SMEs in all sectors and right across the UK - in many cases this leads on to helping such businesses raise the funding they need to achieve their objectives.


Vanessa Crawley

Vanessa Crawley is a Corporate Solicitor for the London & St Albans based firm, SA Law. Vanessa helps clients of all shapes and sizes all over the country to achieve success in a broad range of commercial situations; for growth, investment, sale, franchising and joint ventures. She works with private limited companies, family-run businesses and entrepreneurs - and enjoys the variety of working with businesses across different sectors including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, technology and media to name a few. Outside the office, she is a Director of the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce and is an avid user of social media.
