SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES

Ivy Brown, Ivy Brown Gallery & AWAD Co-chair New York-TriState Chapter

Founded in 2001, the Ivy Brown Gallery showcases contemporary art across all mediums. Driven by a deep commitment to the transformative power of art, Ivy Brown champions both emerging and established artists from around the world. She brings a distinctive perspective to the fine art world, curating thought-provoking and unconventional exhibitions that are both timeless and offbeat. At the heart of the gallery is Ivy’s mission: bringing unusual art to the people.

Elaine Dye, Byre Gallery, UK

Elaine Dye is the owner and curator of Cornwall’s Byre Gallery

Before falling in love with curating, Elaine worked in PR in the performing arts and media – including nine years with BBC Television. While living in Sydney, Australia, she developed a passion – though not a talent – for ceramics, and a growing appreciation for curating.

After returning to the UK, Elaine and her husband settled in Cornwall, where she completed a Master’s at the University of the Arts, Plymouth, specialising in curating. In 2014, she founded the Byre Gallery, which over the past decade has gained a reputation for its curated mix of contemporary craft and fine art, and is now recognised as one of the most inviting galleries in the region.

Elaine is also a mentor and coach to creative practitioners, runs the online course An Insider’s Guide to Gallery Success, and hosts the podcast An Art to It.

Susan Mumford, AWAD Founder & CEO

Susan is the Founder & CEO of AWAD. She is a sector-supporting entrepreneur for the art market. Arriving in the UK from the USA, Susan ran a London gallery from 2006-2011. When the art world entered a new dynamic following the 2008 credit crunch she founded AWAD in 2009. This was followed Be Smart About Art, an online professional develoment platform. In 2018, she co-founded ArtAML, a leading technology platform supporting the art market with compliance obligations.
