How to reclaim Scotland's lost £36 billion
Fri 24 March 2017, 13:30 – 16:30 GMT
Scotland has fought hard to achieve a degree of independence over tax policy. Recently acquired powers over income tax rates and bands, coupled with existing powers over local taxation, should allow Holyrood to re-structure its tax system to make it fairer and more efficient.
We shall examine how Scotland could move away from destructive taxation on bona fide economic activity, and look instead to socially-created land values as an alternative source of public revenue. A system of Annual Ground Rent would result in a level of social justice and enhanced economic prosperity hitherto unattainable by Scotland under Westminster control.
Our speakers will be land reform expert Andy Wightman MSP, tax advisor Mark Wadsworth and economist Fred Harrison.
Admission is free, but if you intend to come along RSVP to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
