Plagiarism “is creating the impression that something is your own idea or your own work when it is not. Plagiarism is a form of academic misconduct.” (Institute for Academic Development, 2020)
Plagiarism can often be unintentional and that is why it is essential that you learn how to cite and reference properly. Referencing also allows you to acknowledge someone else’s work, demonstrate your knowledge and lets your course organiser or tutor identify the sources you have used.
In this session we will look at what citing and referencing is, why you use it, how you use it and what tools are available to help you.
