In this special event for ECTs/trainees, Sue offers practical advice and tips for succeeding and surviving in your first year as a teacher.

About this event

In this webinar, best-selling author and teacher trainer Sue Cowley will discuss a host of practical strategies, ideas and tips to help you survive and thrive in your first year as a teacher. The webinar includes advice on dealing with workload, handling paperwork and assessment, managing your classroom, dealing with behaviour, effective approaches to planning, teaching and learning, voice usage/voice care and ensuring your wellbeing. The event is aimed at new teachers in all phases and subject areas.

This webinar is designed to help you feel more confident about your first year as a teacher and to gain more strategies to support yourself and your children. You will learn about practical steps you can take to help you face the challenges of your first year and also how to plan ahead for the start of your career. This will be an engaging, practical and interactive session with lots of useful advice and strategies. This webinar is aimed at new teachers, trainee teachers and may also be helpful for recently qualified staff.

Sue Cowley is the author of over 30 books for teachers, including the international bestsellers “How to Survive your First Year in Teaching” and "Getting the Buggers to Behave". She has taught in all phases during her career. She currently helps to run her local early years setting. Sue is an internationally renowned teacher trainer who has provided input on behaviour, teaching and learning and differentiation to teachers, NQTs and trainees for 20 years, in all phases and types of educational settings. She is well known for the practical, realistic and down to earth nature of her approach.

* This event is a re-run of last year's popular webinars for new teachers, held on 15th July and 21st October 2020 and on 1st September 2021.

* This event will not be recorded and is available for live attendance only.
