If you have some of your own tools and would like to learn how to use them properly, then you are welcome to bring them and use them on the course. We have a fully equipped workshop so there is no need to bring anything, but some students like to bring their own.

Organised by

"The Great British Woodshop" is the location of the Discovery channel TV Series of the same name.

Students of all abilities are given a warm welcome at our large, fully tooled workshop in West Byfleet.

You can learn a variety of different skills with the Great British Woodshop, depending on your interests.  Courses include Woodwork, DIY, Special Projects, Spray Painting, Upcycling and Upholstery and we also hold holiday sessions for children and juniors.

The Great British Woodshop run daytime, evening and Weekend courses to fit in with busy lifestyles.  Class sizes are deliberately kept small for the personal experience and can be tailored to the specific needs of those attending on any given day.

Courses are run by woodworking craftsman and television presenter David Free. DRB certified, David has been practising woodwork for 40 years and has been teaching all ages for 20 of those.   David is passionate about sharing his woodwork and DIY knowledge with others.

Now that DIY Superstores are full of woodworking machinery at very affordable prices, there's never been a better time to build a home workshop and have fun making some of your own furniture, renovate your kitchen or learn how to spray paint to a high quality finish. This not only fulfils practical needs but it also gives you a great sense of achievement.

Our courses give you basic knowledge for the complete beginner or take your existing skills to the next level. We look forward to you joining us for a really fun event and in the mean time why not check "YouTube" to see some of the episodes from the TV series.
