Event description

Description

***YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF STAFF AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON TO BOOK ON THIS WORKSHOP***

Would benefit: all academics (ECRs and established researchers) interested in applying for UKRI funding

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is the new body that brings together the seven Research Councils and Innovate UK and is the largest academic funding body in the UK with a combined annual budget of more than £6 billion. The Research Councils put out hundreds of calls each year for academics at every career stage and putting an application together to a particular Research Council can seem like a daunting prospect and a lot of work. This workshop is designed to make applying more manageable and will increase your chance of success. It will be run by a senior Research Council grant panel Chair and an experienced professional grant manager.

Specifically the workshop will provide you with:

  • Tips on how to write a successful grant proposal
  • Advice on how to ‘earn’ a positive review of your grant proposal
  • The pitfalls to avoid when putting your application together
  • A chance for you to ask UKRI grant questions

Facilitators: Professor Phil Ashworth (Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise) & Daniel Sweet (Research Development Officer)
