The East London Business Alliance (ELBA) is a charity that has been working in East London for 30 years to empower local residents and communities. We do this through engaging the time, skills and expertise of employee volunteers from our corporate member companies in the City and Canary Wharf.

In Hackney we are working in partnership with Hackney Council to support local residents with enhancing their employability skills and progression in career pathways, particularly in response to the coronavirus crisis. On Thursday 5th August we are running an online session helping Hackney residents to consider how to build a strong CV.

The session will run in partnership with corporate volunteers from UBS, Linklaters and Societe Generale. The session will:

1. discuss the main purpose and uses of a CV
2. cover the important things to include when putting together your CV, including structure and content
3. consider the main thing employers look for when looking at a CV
4. consider how to tailor a CV to different job opportunities and sectors

The first part of the session will be run seminar-style, with ELBA & volunteers discussing the content first, and in the second part you will have the chance to speak with corporate volunteers and ask questions in small groups. It will be run on Zoom, but there will be no need to have camera access. We strongly recommend you having a paper and pen, or device to make notes on throughout.

Registration for this event is FREE, and is open to those who live and/or work in Hackney only. You will receive an email confirming all details closer to the time.
