About this Event
This course is designed to help you get your work into print and focuses on the basic skills common to all published work that can make the difference between acceptance and rejection. The course is designed to be interactive and is supported by a workbook, which all participants will receive.

- Writing in sections: introduction and discussion
- Writing in sections: the abstract
- Authorship rules
- Revising and editing
Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Professor Derek Alderson is President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS) and an emeritus Professor of Surgery at the University of Birmingham. He was Professor of Surgery at the University of Bristol from 1997 to 2005 before becoming the Barling Professor of Surgery and Head of Department in Birmingham. Between 2010 and 2016, Professor Alderson was Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Surgery (BJS) and is currently Editor-in-Chief of the BJS Open.
