Event description

The Healthy Power Alliance (HPA) is developing a submission for the Global Challenges Prize, click here for information. The following is an invitation to a 2 hour Open Space forum to develop the core concept for the HPA application.

The prize seeks “to find models or frameworks for international cooperation, capable of addressing the interlinked risks and problems of climate change, other large-scale environmental damage, violent conflict (including nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction), extreme poverty, and expected continuing rapid population growth”

They say that: “entrants should focus on designing a decision-making structure or framework that could galvanize effective international action to tackle these risks. The proposed model may encompass an entirely new global framework or a proposed reform for existing systems.

Theme for the session

  • How can sociocratic networks provide a basis for global governance?
  • How would they work?
  • How are they better than alternatives?

Output for the session

A group of consented statements about how sociocratic networks can contribute to global governance.

John Buck, Nathaniel Whitestone, Tracy Kunkler, and Gavin White willprepare ten-minute talks on their concepts relating sociocratic networks to global government (others may do so as well). Presenters are asked to coordinate with each other in advance so that they can be sure to present complementary or clearly alternative materials. The session will be participatory in order to gain the best ideas to develop the HPAs application.

April 26 at 15:00 BST / 10:00am EDT / 7:00am PDT, for 2 hours
