HPC@sheffield2017 will provide an opportunity for researchers, post graduates and final year undergraduates to hear about the latest projects that take advantage of the state-of-the-art high performance computing facilities, provided locally, regionally and nationally, in an effort to expand the frontiers of science, medicine, engineering, humanities and arts.
The theme for the 2017 event is the launch of the Sheffield Advanced Research Computer (ShARC). This new High Performance Computer for the University of Sheffield forms the basis of a new system which research groups can use to host their hardware and enjoy the benefit of a well supported and maintained research infrastructure. Importantly the Sheffield Advanced Research Computer uses fair sharing to make it freely available to all researchers.
The objective of the event is to publicise what is available and to provide examples of what may be achieved using the e-infrastructure available to the research community.
The event will comprise of a series of presentations, poster sessions, vendor exhibits and demonstrations. Demonstrations will help to explain how researchers may take advantage of the e-infrastructure and the HPC facilities provided in order to enhance and advance their research.
The poster competition is open to all Researchers and Research Teams who make use of the HPC facilities, 'be it local, regional or national' to promote their research.
The preferred size of the posters is A1 (portrait). Other formats negotiable. The prizes, kindly donated by Intel are as follows
