All you need to know about a heat pump strategy and accelerator to speed up deployment and help Europeans get off fossil gas faster.

About this event

"Ambition requires action: The Heat Pump Accelerator for RepowerEU" Heat Pump Forum & Award 2022 puts heat pumps at the centre of the green, digital, cost-effective energy transition and industrial transformation.

The European Commission’s REPowerEU plan builds on the ambitious heat pump targets it set out in March. Those targets require around 20 million heat pumps to be installed in the EU by 2026 and nearly 60 million by 2030.

Expanding the use of heat pumps is crucial for reducing use of fossil gas in heating and cooling for homes, buildings and industry. In REPowerEU, the European Commission sets a target of doubling the deployment rate, and refers to ramping up equipment production and facilitating access to finance.

In its accompanying ‘EU Save Energy’ Communication the Commission proposes a range of measures to accelerate and incentivise the roll-out of heat pumps, such as tougher energy efficiency requirements on buildings, which should see an end to ‘stand-alone’ fossil fuel boilers by 2029.

Yet REPowerEU does not set out any kind of overall strategy or propose an EU Heat Pump accelerator to bring these elements together and help the sector deliver on the targets.

Europe needs a heat pump strategy and the industry an EU heat pump accelerator to speed up deployment and help Europeans get off fossil gas faster.

By bringing together high-level policy-makers, major players of the heating and cooling industry, influencers from related stakeholders the Heat Pump Forum's aim is to act as a co-creation platform for the heat pump strategy and accelerator.

The Heat Pump Award

Just like every year, in 2022 we will recognise the most efficient, smart and sustainable Heat Pump projects at the local level in EHPA's Heat Pump Award Ceremony. This year we will award 5 categories: the Heat Pump City of the Year, DecarbIndustry, Decarbuilding, Lighthouse Heat Pump and People's choice award: the most popular heat pump project.

The Heat Pump Forum 2022 and the Heat Pump Award ceremony will take place on September 28th both virtually and physically at the Atomium in Brussels. When you register you have the option of selecting whether you want to join the event in person at the Atomium or remotely online.

To respect the planet, this is a Green Event. As we want to avoid food waste, please be responsible with your decision to attend the event in person.

Limited in person places available. Save your spot at your earliest convenience.
