10th June 2025: NHSE update & Partnership working and industrial relations NHSE update & TBC Partnership working and industrial relations (9:30-11am)
The NHS England update this month will focus on Talent Timebanking. Halima Chowe, Senior Programme Lead for Talent Timebanking at NHS England, South East region will provide this update and how you and your colleagues can get involved.
The development session this month will be a legal update with Nicky Green, Partner at Capsticks LLP. She will focus on partnership working and also provide an update on the recent Supreme Court ruling on the definition of 'sex'.
We have seen unprecedented levels of industrial action over the past few years in the NHS, both nationally and at a local level in the form of strikes and action short of a strike. We have also seen an emphasis on the collective bargaining and collective consultation, with employers and unions focusing on local recognition agreements and statutory obligations to shape engagement and negotiation. In this webinar we will look at employers’ statutory obligations under the complex Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act (TULRCA) and discuss lessons to be taken from recent national collective processes.
Aim: To provide attendees with a working knowledge of the relevant legislation and develop awareness to help shape future collective bargaining/consultation processes and develop their knowledge of the law regarding strikes and action short of a strike.
Objectives: Breakdown the legislation around
- Collective bargaining
- Collective consultation
- Trade disputes
- Balloting and notices
Help attendees identify the relevant local obligations around change management in respect of collective bargaining and dispute resolution
Outcome: Greater confidence for HR practitioners regarding TULRCA and their duties in respect of consultation and negotiation with unions.
This session will also provide a brief update on the recent Supreme Court ruling on the definition of 'sex' within the 2010 Equality Act and the implications.
NHSE update & Respect, Resolution and Reducing harm - 13th May 2025 (9:30-11:45AM)
To start the session NHS England, London region, will provide an update on the current people priorities.
This month’s network session will focus on Respect, Resolution and Reducing harm and will be run by David Liddle CEO of the TCM Group, and 2024 HR most influential thinker . Join David for a powerful 90 min workshop at HPMA that tackles one of the most pressing issues in healthcare workplaces: employee harm. Drawing from his widely adopted Resolution Framework and Transformational Culture Model, David will explore how to shift from blame to dialogue, from grievance to growth, and from fear to psychological safety.
Through a blend of expert insight, interactive case work, and practical tools, attendees will discover how early, values-based resolution approaches can transform toxic conflict into opportunities for healing and trust. The session will also reference the pioneering ideas of Andrew Cooper, offering a deeper psychological lens into organisational culture and harm. HR leaders will leave with clear strategies to reduce harm, strengthen team cohesion, and drive a culture rooted in respect, compassion, and accountability.
