Summary: Leaders and managers in organisations increasingly need prompts to take a more strategic view of their people agenda. Part of the role of HR is to help the organisation see where it currently is, the implications that follow from the present culture and the options needed for moving to where it needs to be. This workshop is intended to help HR and OD professionals understand the role they can play as internal consultants, develop an awareness of the consulting process and practice some of the skills they need to be effective.

The programme will introduce participants to the core skills of an Internal Consultant - the phases of the Consulting cycle and the roles Consultants can play

It will equip you with some core consulting skills to enable you to work with your client groups in a way that drives commercial and value add outcomes.

Objectives: Interactive workshop covering:

Introduction to the Consulting Cycle and the different Consulting roles

Entry & Contracting – contracting skills

Building the Business Case for Change

Generating Insight – strategic questioning

Managing stakeholders – Power & Politics

Leading & Managing Change

Participants will develop:

- an understanding of the consulting cycle and the range of consulting roles they may play.

- Knowledge of a number of core consulting skills that are used at different phases of the ‘consulting cycle’ – with the opportunity to practice these in small teams

Target audience: HR Business Partners, PD and OD Specialists

Delegates should reflect on what consulting means to them and on skills and capabilities they have seen used by effective consultants.
