Members of the local CIPD HR Leaders Group are invited to attend this Research into Practice lunch hosted by De Montfort University.
The programme for the meeting is as follows:
11:30 -12:00 Registration
12:00 - 12:30 Peter Ackers, Professor of Employment Relations at De Montfort University and joint editor of Finding a Voice at Work? (Oxford University Press 2015)
Peter will talk about how the Voice debate has evolved over recent decades from a focus on collective bargaining in the early 1980s to the development of management Employee Involvement, Partnership and Engagement policies. The last decade saw the influence of EU initiatives, such as European Works Councils and Information and Consultation. Brexit raises new questions about the future direction of Voice public policy. The Prime Minister has made some initial comments about employee voice in relation to corporate governance. What can we expect the new few years to hold?
12.30 - 13:00 Lunch
13:00 - 13:30 Louisa Baczor, Research Associate at CIPD
Louise will discuss some recent research CIPD conducted exploring voice as a construct to challenge the status quo, going beyond the industrial relations paradigm. In order to stimulate new thinking about voice as a fundamental right of individuals to exercise power over what happens to them at work, we have started with broader questions on voice. What is the future of employee voice?
13:30 - 14:00 Discussion
Please note - this is a meeting of the CIPD Leicestershire HR Leaders Group so is for local CIPD members in a HR Director or Head of HR role.
