Event description

Description

Summer 2018
Employment Tribunal Training

What will we cover?
July last year, the Supreme Court ruled Employment Tribunal fees unlawful. It’s common for clients to feel anxious about attending and giving evidence at an employment tribunal, so we have created a number of support materials, helping organisations and their employees prepare.

Our comprehensive training course built around our Witness For A Day film will fully prepare delegates to either give evidence as a witness at an Employment Tribunal or to brief others who are likely to be called.

The session will be built around a real case study which we will work through with the delegates illustrated by the mock tribunal setting of the film.

All stages of a standard unfair dismissal case will be dealt with and explained including:

  • Introduction - course objectives and brief overview of the Employment Tribunal itself and the statutory claims it deals with.
  • Preparing for the day - What will you receive in advance ? What do you need to read?
  • Arriving at the ET - where do you need to go and what happens first?
  • The Pre Hearing conference - do's and dont's of giving evidence.
  • The Employment Tribunal - the lay out, the order of evidence and the role of the judge.
  • Giving evidence - what are the key issues? How to you deal with cross examination? How do you respond to questions from the judge?
  • The decision - what are the possible outcomes? How would any damages be assessed? Can there be an appeal?
  • Conclusions - summary of key issues and Q and A
