Description

NICON September Discussion Session in Partnership with Ulster University

Tuesday 10 September, 3.30 – 5.30pm, Great Hall, Magee

When Health and Wellbeing 2026 – Delivering Together was published almost three years ago, it set out a vision for transformation; where people reached across traditional boundaries, where there was collective leadership, where we invested in systems not structures, and where patients, clients, staff and partners were all involved in leading change. The HSC Collective Leadership Strategy and our Co-Production Guide are agreed and in place – but how is this work developing on the ground. In this discussion session we will hear from a wide range of people leading change to hear their stories of how we are “getting better at delivering together?” Are the silos coming down? What are the signs of this kind of culture change? What do we need to do to make further progress?

Contributors to the discussion will include;

  • Systems not Structures -panellists
  • Professor Rafael Bengoa
  • Dr Mark Taylor
  • Dr Alan Stout
  • Bronagh Scott
  • Mairead McAlinden
  • Practitioners
  • Anne Kilgallen, CEx WHSCT, Pathfinder – Health & Social Care, Fermanagh & West Tyrone
  • Dr Siobhan McEntee, Elective Care Transformation
  • Tony Doherty, Health Living Centre Alliance -Working in Communities
  • Ivan McMinn, Patient & Vice Chair of the Cancer Strategy Working Group
  • Aaron Peace, Chief Executive, Clinical Translational Research and Innovation Centre
  • Dr Mick Quinn, Encompass Programme

After several short interviews with people leading change in our systems, we are delighted to be joined by Systems not Structures - Changing Health and Social Care panel members, to discuss with delegates the progress being made and how we can build on these early steps in our cultural change journey.

Please also join us after this session for an informal drinks reception, to meet panel members and hear about the work the University is doing to support the Health and Social Care sector.
