HSSP Active Health Conference for HSSP Primary School Head Teachers and P.E Co-ordinators/Health Leaders

PROVISIONAL AGENDA:

  • 9am – 9.20am Registration and tea/coffee upon arrival
  • 9.20am -9.30am Welcome and importance of keeping children active every day (Active 30) and eating well at school
  • 9.30am – 10am Workshop A/B/C/D/E
  • 10am – 10.30am Workshop A/B/C/D/E
  • 10.30am – 11am Workshop A/B/C/D/E
  • 11am – 11.15am Summary, networking opportunity, free buffet and fruit to go and close

Nil cost for HSSP signed up Primary School staff (2018-19), £50 per delegate for non- HSSP signed up (2018-2019).

Delegates select 3 workshops below during ticket registration.

WORKSHOP A: The Daily Mile a rapidly growing and successful national programme that is free of charge and gets a class/several year groups active for 15 mins every day (Mel Harding - Kent Sport the Daily Mile local co-ordinator). Learn more about resources/ideas and benefits of working towards the 30 mins of daily physical activity, with the daily mile.

WORKSHOP B: Medway Council Public Health Team (Emma Block) Find out about the Medway facts and research data (Childhood measuring programme) and the range of free Health Education and promotion services on offer to Medway Primary Schools: educational workshops, campaigns and other programmes.

WORKSHOP C: Yoga and Mindfulness – Sharron Denney talks about her training programme that trains teachers to deliver yoga and mindfulness, either within or outside the PE curriculum, in such a way that it links directly to techniques and practices that can be used in the classroom to support classroom learning. This is done by strategies for developing behaviour for learning, promoting self-regulation and developing creativity.

WORKSHOP D: Fire Fighter- Fit-kids – Creating Healthy Heroes workshop – Rob Lindley. An innovative way of learning which is inclusive, fun and inspiring. It combines vigorous exercise with different activities to educate children about health, fitness and fire safety and helps to hit the 30 mins of daily physical activity for every child every day.

WORKSHOP E: HSSP – Claire Moore explaining about the importance of 30mins of daily physical activity for every child how to fit it all in the school day and sharing good practice. Plus introducing the www.activeschoolplanner.org website and applying for the School Games Mark Award annually online at www.yourschoolgames.com
