Huddl Up with Suffolk Mind - Self Harm
Event Information
Description
This Huddl Up with Suffolk Mind is for parents and carers to learn about self harm in children and young people.
Self-harm is when somebody intentionally damages or injures their body. It's usually a way of coping with or expressing overwhelming emotional distress.
Professional knowledge and support will be provided to help parents and carers better understand self harm. By learning we can better help with problems as and when they may arise, and find a way through.
As a parent or carer for a child, you will go to great lengths to protect that young person from illness and injury. Having a child succumb to self harm can come as a shock and leaves families unprepared for the consequences.
Self harm arises when emotional needs are unmet.
