Description

Moving around Manchester

Good transport is an enabler – it allows people to travel for work, it brings families closer together and shrinks the country’s geography. A third of Greater Manchester's short journeys (under 1km) are made by car, when walking or cycling would be quicker. Why is this? And what about movement for the 10% of the Greater Manchester population with impairments?

Three creative thinkers will share their ideas in a conversation about how we can make Manchester a more mobile city. We will consider cycling, walking and inclusive design.

Hear CallisonRTKL’s Matt Pickering in conversation with Helen Pidd from Walk Ride GM, Mark Todd B.E.M. from accessibility consultancy access all areas who recently led the campaign for an inclusive Peterloo Memorial, and Jaimie Ferguson from Optimised Environments. They will discuss how people move into, across and within parts of the city and how their thinking is changing as a result.

The event venue is fully accessible. Please advise whether you would like any communications support.
