About this event
During this day retreat, held online and in-person in London, we will explore Buddhist mind training techniques (lojong) that help us transform pain, anxiety, and stress into mental well-being in ways that benefit ourselves and those around us. These practices are accessible to anyone seeking inner transformation, whether Buddhist or not.
Together we’ll:
- Explore the foundational principles of Buddhist mind training (lojong).
- Discover how to turn everyday difficulties into opportunities for personal growth.
- Learn how challenging emotions can be transformed into deep inner transformation.
- Experience stillness and calm through easy-to-follow guided meditations.
- Share and learn with like-minded friends in group discussions.
Expect teachings, guided meditation, and time for questions and discussion. You’ll leave with concrete practices you can apply the very same day to transform your mind in everyday situations and challenges.
"Mind training is especially well suited for an active life. It does not require that we withdraw in seclusion, but that we re-examine all of our relationships - to family, friends, enemies, and strangers - and gradually transform our responses to whatever life throws our way. It is a Mahayana practice that aspires to attain full awakening through compassion and loving-kindness for all creatures."- B. Alan Wallace
About our London Day Retreats
These Buddhist meditation day retreats, which can be attended online or in-person, offer the opportunity to discover what meditation and Buddhist mind training can do for mental well-being and to meet and share with like-minded people.
The sessions are perfect for both beginners and those with more experience. We hope to provide you with the foundation for developing your own regular meditation practice, and help you develop tools that reduce stress, anxiety and worry; and nurture a happier, calmer, and more positive approach to life.
Lunch
For lunch, there will be an opportunity to purchase lunch provided by an onsite caterer, or you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat with the group. This can be a great time to share and discuss with others. David has requested that we eat a plant-based lunch, or at least vegetarian if this is not possible for you. Our abstaining from meat and dairy is an expression of non-harm and compassion for all beings – taking into account the welfare of our planet and fellow inhabitants. If you would like to order a hot lunch for £10per person please click here to purchase.
Booking & Donations
There are limited in-person places available for this day retreat. We will also be live-streaming and recording the teachings on Zoom. Please book in advance by using the options below.
We embrace a sliding scale policy for their event fees, guided by the Buddhist principle of generosity and inclusivity. There are suggested donations to help cover event costs and support our ongoing activities, for the benefit of all. However, we firmly believe that financial constraints should never be a barrier to participation. If the suggested amount is beyond your means, please contribute what you can — every offering helps us sustain and continue providing our events and courses for the collective good.
