HYDRATE - Online Creative Writing Workshop to Rehydrate your Writing Life
Overview
WHO ARE HYDRATE WORKSHOPS FOR?
Maybe you’re feeling a bit stuck or your writing has gone stale, perhaps you’ve been doing academic, scientific writing or journalism and you need to free-up your thinking or get out your ‘head’ or the same-same writing style. Maybe you have a day-job and feel a pull to begin expressing yourself through writing. Or perhaps you simply would like a regular writing space to expand and explore your imagination, and connect with like-minded people.
We all need regular hydration to plump up our words and imaginations which can become dried out for many reasons.
Whether you’re a poet, fiction writer, essayist, children’s picture book writer, self-help columnist, writer of morning pages in your journal, or have not written for years and want to begin again – you are welcome.
HYDRATE is for people (18+) who write (or want to) in any genre who wish:
- to discover themselves through writing
- inspiration and connection
- to rehydrate the words they write
- to try different writing styles
- to get out of a writing rut
- to create new material
- to meet fellow writers and creatives
WHAT WE DO
We begin each workshop with a warm welcome, a 'presencing' meditation, then dive right in. I’ll share different prompts each month to inspire and rehydrate. We’ll have some short writing bursts as well as some solid chunks of writing time together in silence (it’s amazing what can be created in short writing stints), with time to share and connect – (you do not have to share your writing, and depending on group size, there may not be time for everyone to share during each workshop).
Workshops often include 'body-awareness' breaks through gentle embodied movement, or music, visuals or other somatic practices, so please be aware that we may not ONLY be writing.
Constructive or critical feedback will not be given in these classes, as the emphasis is on creative IMAGINATION, EXPLORATION and EXPANSION. There is no emphasis on producing a neat piece of writing, however, you may leave feeling rehydrated and with new material - creative threads of ideas to develop later.
WE ALLOW FOR THE MESSINESS IN WHICH WE CAN DISCOVER GEMS OF IDEAS FOR FUTURE EXPANSION.
Themes may be light, airy and fun, they may be acutely detailed or wide open, they may be deep, heart-opening or bring up emotions for you (which I encourage you to channel into your writing).
Come with an open mind and heart, a pen and a journal (or piece of paper).
HOW TO JOIN
HYDRATE is a LIVE 1.5 hour creative writing workshop held online over Zoom.
Once you are registered for the correct date, you’ll receive the link to join the class on Zoom. Please read the ‘what to bring’ instructions as they are specific to each class theme.
To receive reminders for the workshops, you’ll need to subscribe to my newsletter (where you’ll also hear about other offerings and inspiration).
Classes will go ahead with a minimum of 3 people and with no maximum number. Sessions are not recorded, so be sure you can show up to the live class. My groups are often intimate so I will invite you to have your video on if possible.
DATE & TIME: Tuesday 16th of December: 7.00-8.30pm UK time.
THEMES: WE’LL BE RETURNING TO SOME THEMES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS - DEEPENING AND REFRESHING - WORKING WITH NEW AND FAMILIAR PROMPTS. THROUGH THIS PRACTICE, WE WILL NOTICE HOW WORKING WITH SOME OF THE SAME PROMPTS CREATES NEW STORIES BECAUSE WHO WE ARE NOW, IS DIFFERENT. EACH WORKSHOP BRINGS A UNIQUE CONSTELLATION OF PEOPLE TOGETHER, ‘INFORMING’ THE FIELD OF POSSIBILITY WITHIN OUR GROUP.
THEME TODAY: WINTERING
COST: This online workshop is currently offered at a sliding scale between £15-£25 to accommodate different economic situations. Please note, the minimum payment is £15.
