Hydrogen can be a key enabler to the energy transition, complementing offshore wind scale-up and electrification and providing flexible back-up to intermittent power sources.

In 2023, the NSTA took on the role of offshore hydrogen transport and storage regulator, becoming the licensing/consenting authority for offshore hydrogen pipelines and storage.
