Hydrogen East - Bacton Energy Hub scoping report
Event Information
About this event
Hydrogen East will be launching the first phase of its scoping study looking at the potential to develop a thriving hydrogen economy in Norfolk and Suffolk, and the pivotal role that the Bacton gas terminal in North Norfolk could play through redevelopment as an integrated “energy hub”.
Bacton is a well-connected and strategically important site that should play a vital role in supporting both regional and national Net Zero ambitions, as well as facilitating a future hydrogen export market.
The team will talk you through the main themes of the report: highlighting how the existing and planned energy infrastructure in the region could facilitate hydrogen adoption, a high-level hydrogen demand assessment from potential local users, a range of possible pathways to establishing an “energy hub” and our initial recommendations and proposed next steps.
Colleagues from the Xodus Group will also discuss their research into the carbon capture and storage opportunity in the surrounding Southern North Sea, with blue hydrogen production at Bacton as the initial anchor.
