How many adults can accompany their children?

Accepted Answer

Up to two adults can accompany their children at our events. For those children who require additional support and supervision, we will make an exception.

Question 2

What if my child is younger or older than the age range?

Accepted Answer

Siblings under 18 months do not require a ticket. The event designed and suitable for the age range described. Older siblings can attend but a ticket must be booked.

Question 3

What is expected of parents/carers?

Accepted Answer

Hive staff will lead the events, explain activities, introduce rules, and assist all children where they can. However, parents and carers will be expected to support their children with the practicalities and help enforce rules. It is the joint responsibility of all adults to keep the group safe.

Question 4

How accessible is the event?

Accepted Answer

This event will take place entirely on our grounds, which are wheelchair and buggy accessible. We also have accessible toilets. The event will not involve loud music or noises. Please let us know if you have any additional requirements so we can ensure we offer you the best service possible.

Question 5

My child struggles with loud and bright events and flashing lights - what can they expect?

Accepted Answer

Crafts are in our outdoor classroom, marshmallows by the fireside and refreshments in our Lodge. We will play ambient music at a low level and have some slow pulsing/twinkling fairy lights. Quiet spaces will be available throughout. Please let us know if anyone requires special considerations.

Is there parking or public transport links?

Accepted Answer

We only have parking for 10 cars so we encourage car-sharing where possible. We also have a bike rack for the more adventurous (light-permitting)! The nearest train/bus station is at Chingford ~3km through the forest.

Question 7

Are there toilets/baby-change/hand washing facilities?

Accepted Answer

We have toilets, including accessible and baby-change at our main building (near the craft area) and at the Lodge (where refreshments and crafts are served).

Question 8

Is there a café or can I bring a picnic?

Accepted Answer

There is no café on site but refreshments are included in your ticket price (hot chocolate or spiced apple drink, s'mores and mince pies). The closest indoor eatery is The Owl pub, at Lippit's Hill. For a choice of options, visit High Beach: 'Pillow Mounds' carpark or The Oak carpark.

When should we arrive?

Accepted Answer

Please arrive around 10 minutes before the start so you can check in and use the toilets. Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes before, to ensure carpark spaces are available for your timeslot.

Do you cancel in adverse weather conditions?

Accepted Answer

Our events will run in almost all weathers - Please make sure that you check the forecast and dress appropriately. If we cancelled in extreme weather, you would be offered a full refund.

Question 11

Can we cancel our booking?

Accepted Answer

We can arrange a refund or exchange event if you cancel with more than 7 days’ notice. If you cancel within 7 days of the event, you will still be charged. (We do still appreciate when people inform us of late cancellations, so we are not waiting for you.)
