What will you learn?

The day will give practicing clinicians an opportunity to update their knowledge in the rapidly changing field of stroke care. This popular, high profile event will begin with a morning of lectures covering not only the most current hot topics in stroke but will also revisit anatomy & physiology, assessment & history taking and the continuation of care delivered by leading Stroke Nurse Consultants.

The afternoon will feature; a chance for you to participate in a practical simulation and discussion covering a variety of key learning areas and current areas of debate.

The day will include a 30 minute lunch with light refreshments, vending machinces and a restaurant are available on site.

Agenda

10-10.30am- FAST positive & the paramedic pathway

10.30-11.10am-what is a stroke, causes, risk factors and TIA

11.10-11.45am-Acute stroke thrombolysis/management of Hypertension, the pit stop model improving door to needle time.

11.45-12.00 Coffee

12.00- 12.30 –non thrombolysed strokes and SSNAP

12.30-lunch

1.00-2.00pm Clinical scenario

What are my transport/parking options and how to do i get there?

By Road

Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. From the M65 Leave the M65 at Junction 5 (Shadsworth/Haslingden) onto the A6177, Haslingden Road heading towards Blackburn, Go straight across the next four roundabouts and at the fifth roundabout turn right into the main hospital entrance.

By Bus

Parking

Visitors / External Disabled Visitors

A designated disabled parking area is available at the Main Hospital Reception next to the visitors Car Park O. Limited places are also available at Car Park J.

Staff visitors

Entry to Car Park J for External Visitors can only be accessed by credit or debit card.

  • On entry, insert credit/debit card into barrier reader. The card will be read and the entry date and time will be recorded, the card will then be returned, when the card has been removed the entry barrier will be raised to allow access.

  • On exit, insert same credit/debit card into barrier reader. The card will be read and the exit date and time will calculate the cost against the credit card and produce a receipt. When the card has been removed the barrier will be raised to exit.

Charges

0-3 hours = £1.90p

3-8 hours = £2.80p

8-24 hours = £3.50p
