I AM Brent Community Microgrants Workshop
Overview
The I AM Brent Community Microgrants programme offers £5,000 grants to support projects that keep young people, families, and wider communities safe from violence in Chalkhill Estate, Church Road Estate, Harlesden Town Centre, St Raphael’s Estate, and Stonebridge Estate. These microgrants are designed to invest in community-led solutions that address local challenges and create safer, more resilient neighbourhoods.
This application guidance workshop will walk voluntary sector organisations through the grant criteria, priorities, and practical steps for developing a strong proposal. Participants will learn how to:
- Understand the aims of the microgrant programme and the types of projects most likely to be funded.
- Align project ideas with funder priorities, including youth opportunities, anti-knife crime awareness, tackling unemployment, and advocacy for young people with SEND.
- Structure applications clearly and persuasively, with evidence of local need and community impact.
- Avoid common pitfalls and strengthen proposals with practical examples from previously funded projects.
- Ask questions directly and receive tailored guidance to support your application.
By the end of the session, attendees will feel more confident in preparing bids that reflect their community’s strengths and respond to the urgent need for violence prevention. This is an opportunity to gain clarity, share ideas, and maximise your chances of securing funding to make a real difference in Brent.
This is an online training session and will take place on Microsoft Teams. The link for the session will be received upon order confirmation. If you do not receive anything or are having trouble accessing the training, please email ibrahim.ansari@cvsbrent.org.uk
