I, Daniel Blake screening, and collection for Stretford Foodbank
Thu 6 April 2017, 19:00 – 22:00 BST
Clifford Labour Party in partnership with Stretford Foodbank presents
I, Daniel Blake
I, Daniel Blake is a 2016 British-French-German drama film directed by Ken Loach and written by Loach's frequent collaborator Paul Laverty. The film stars Dave Johns, Hayley Squires, Dylan McKiernan, and Briana Shann.
Ken Loach won the Palme D’or at this years Cannes Film Festival for his deeply moving, starkly realistic portrayal of a man thrust into the benefits system after suffering a heart attack. Declared fit to work despite his illness, Daniel must navigate the endless red tape and bureaucracy whilst struggling to keep a roof over his head, meanwhile befriending a young single mother in the same position. Unrelenting and devastating, a damning indictment on our society and a powerful call to arms.
Join the Clifford ward branch of the Streford and Urmston Labour Party for a special screening of I, Daniel Blake at Stretford High School.
This will be screened in their state of the art, air conditioned performing arts theatre. The venue is fully accessible, and full on site parking is also provided. Refreshments will be available.
Although there will be no charge on entry, suggested donations to cover our cost would be greatly appreciated. This will be a joint fundraiser for both Stretford Foodbank and the Labour Party. We will be collecting food parcels in partnership with Stretford Foodbank. We would suggest you check closer to the time which items are urgently needed and make these a priority, however, it goes without saying, every donation helps.
