Hockley happens. It has long been known as an area of the city beloved of fashionistas, creative business-types, students and everyone who comes to Nottingham with an independent spirit. Even City officials speak of the area like they understand it represents some of Nottingham’s finest qualities.
Hockley has a heartbeat, it has a soul. It is also a little rebellious, like the wayward family relative we try to steer on to the straight and narrow and secretly love all the more for refusing to fall into line.
It is drama. It is entertainment. It is shiny new things and charming vintage things that inspire and delight. It is all these things, provided by independent traders who open their doors with a smile everyday come rain or shine.
And now, those traders are coming together for the “I Love Hockley” fashion show, a showcase for the best clothing, accessories, hairstyle and make-up and the general creative buzz that makes Hockley what it is. It is the first event of its kind and promises to be an amazing night with collections being presented by around 13 of the cool and diverse fashion traders in the area.
The “I Love Hockley” fashion show is a free-to-attend event. As well as the fabulous catwalk offerings that will be shown off in the fine surroundings of the new BaaBar there will also be a raffle with great prizes to be won, with the proceeds divided between the three charities (Emanuel House, Oxfam and the Aegis Trust) resident in
So if you want to say that you love Hockley too (even if you haven’t been down this way for a little while) make the fashion show a date in your diary. And get into the habit of making a trip to Hockley.
