I-Saweering's Custom Fashion Design workshop bridges the gap between fashion engineering and custom design, offering a creative approach towards the customisation of clothing. Building upon the potential of imagination; re-inventing practically through hacking to repurpose existing clothing and illuminating embellishment to enhance and individualise items using wearable technology. Bringing to life creative ideas and learning key skills for sustainable design that can be used in everyday life.
The workshop will provide two options, firstly customising an existing t-shirt/sweatshirt (up-cycling one that you have brought with you) or making accessories that can be added to existing items, for e.g. trainers or hats. Additionally, decoration can be created to illuminate embellishment through using electronics/tech.
There will be an opportunity to learn through demonstration, being shown examples which include offering templates but the focus will be on participants using the potential of their own imagination and unique approach. This will be achieved through offering a supportive playful environment, variety of equipment and materials. The workshop will be delivered through; demonstration, drawing designs, realisation through practical making via customisation and if required tech. embellishment.
An engaging experience for boys and girls, recommended for ages 7-12 but all ages welcome!
