I Wish I...
Thu 23 March 2017, 13:30 – 16:00 GMT
Are you feeling the need for an injection of fundraising inspiration?
Or have you recently seen a brilliant & engaging fundraising campaign delivered by another charity that you wished you’d thought of first?
If so, the next Institute of Fundraising East Midlands event is just for you!
Join us for a fast-paced, fun-filled and informal get together, where fundraising professionals like you from across the region will share their favourite fundraising campaigns. You’ll be returning to your desk brimming with ideas for the year ahead, having met lots of other East Midlands-based fundraisers at the same time.
There is a catch to the ‘I wish I….’ event – we need your help to make it happen!
We’re looking for 8 volunteer speakers for the event.
Do you know of a campaign, advert, direct mail or comms that you wish you had thought of? Would you like to speak for just 7 mins on why you think it was such a great idea and you wish you had come up with it? Just 7 mins!
If you are stuck for inspiration, please find some topics that members of the IoF Legacy & In-Memory Special Interest Group suggested prior to their recent ‘I wish I….’ event below.
Because you’ll be highlighting another organisation’s campaign, you don’t need to be an expert on how it was delivered. You just need to research the campaign as much as you can, highlight what you liked about it & suggest how fundraisers in the East Midlands could learn from it. All in just 7 minutes – a great opportunity to gain speaking experience in a friendly environment.
Follow the link to find out how to present on the day.
Light refreshments will be served from 13.30 with the event beginning at 14.00.
#takethebigissue campaign - I really liked The Big Issue #takethebigissue campaign - they did a lot of social media and used video to break myths about people selling the Big Issue.
Alzheimer charity Virtual Reality headsets- http://awalkthroughdementia.org - A Walk-Through Dementia is designed to help the public think beyond memory loss to gain a fully immersive insight into the varied symptoms people with dementia can experience in everyday life. They hope the experience will have a stronger impact than words or photographs. http://www.alzheimersresearchuk.org/a-walk-through-dementia-news/
Travels to my Elephant - Nominated for best Legacy or In-Mem campaign for the National Fundraising Awards http://www.travelstomyelephant.org
Tower of London Poppies -I really like the Tower of London Poppies - mainly the visual brilliance, and then the idea you can buy something that had been part of a wider meaning - e.g. a penalty spot on a football field, or a brick from a wall etc.
